About This Episode
Michael Schrantz is one of the most experienced individuals in the world of indoor air quality (IAQ). This presented a great opportunity to learn more about IAQ as it pertains to restoration hazards like water damage, mold, and even volatile organic compounds (VOC’s). Michael has been involved in over 6800 related projects and has traveled the world to perform indoor environmental assessments.
We met Michael at CIRSx, an annual conference connecting indoor air quality experts, medical professionals, mold remediators, as well as mold testing companies and laboratories. The conference focuses on discovering solutions for a specific medical condition called Chronic Inflammation Response Syndrome (CIRS). CIRS contributes to substantial health decline for individuals because it can affect multiple systems in the human body, and the condition is a result of occupying water damage buildings that have developed mold.
In this episode we also uncover several pertinent questions in the world of restoration and quality of life, including:
What are the most common questions or concerns you hear during your inspections from individuals with CIRS or other health issues exacerbated by the presence of mold?
How do environmental factors, such as climate or elevation, influence mold growth in homes?
Should homes be built differently in the future based on recent findings over the last decade as it pertains to water damage or mold? If so, how?
